Graduates of the Bowery Mission Transitional Center received their certificates at a graduation ceremony on Aug. 20, marking their successful completion of a nine-month program. The transitional center, at 45-51 Avenue D, which opened in 1989, targets unemployed, homeless men, providing life skills, job referrals, community service teams, three meals a day and spiritual sustenance. The center has placed more than 1,000 homeless men in apartments.
