There was a plan reported by the Indypendent newspaper to throw shoes at this portrait of outgoing President George W. Bush in Union Square to commemorate the end of the Bush administration. Participants would be provided with shoes to chuck. But the picture sat virtually unnoticed at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Apparently most people had been too busy watching the inaugural festivities.
