Police in the Bronx are investigating a deadly stabbing early Monday morning outside of a former NYPD stationhouse that had been transformed into a preschool.
Authorities said the deadly stabbing occurred outside of 1925 Bathgate Ave. in Tremont at about 12:22 a.m. on June 22.
Officers from the 48th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call about the incident, found the victim, a 39-year-old man, lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds to his neck and chest.
EMS rushed the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification.
Police sources report that detectives are canvassing video cameras in the area to identify a suspect. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The Bathgate Avenue location once served as the 48th Precinct headquarters, but years ago, it was redeveloped. It now houses a preschool for children between the ages of two and five.
