A natural dog food company is helping senior dogs across the country find homes this holiday season.

The Farmer’s Dog is partnering with animal shelters in New York, San Francisco, and Rhode Island to help senior-aged dogs find loving homes. One of the shelters is the Manhattan-based Animal Haven shelter.

Founded in 1967, Animal Haven has helped countless abandoned pets find homes across the Tri-State area and provided necessary behavioral training. Currently, the rescue has dozens of dogs that have been separated from their owners due to the pandemic. Senior dogs that are currently up for adoption include an 11-year-old Mastiff mix named Roscoe, a 12-year-old Miniature Pinscher mix named Pez and a 7-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Reginald.

According to The Farmer’s Dog, senior dogs are often overlooked due to their age, however they are some of the best dogs to adopt because they are already potty trained (and have other training under their belt), they know how to chill and what you see is what you get. Plus, by adopting a senior dog you are giving them a second chance at a happy life.

Those who adopt a senior dog at Animal Haven will receive a free box of fresh food from The Farmer’s Dog and a free illustration of the senior dog you adopt. For more information and to see available senior dogs from Animal Haven, visit www.thefarmersdog.com/adoptseniordogs.
