The N.Y.C. City Council, in collaboration with The New York Times, Facebook, MTV and other companies, will host a cyberbullying summit on Mon., July 18 at the Times Center in Midtown West to educate parents and teachers about online bullying.
The speaker’s line-up includes a broad range of participants that include the city’s district attorneys, representatives from the NYC Departments of Education and Youth and Community Development, and advocacy organization leaders.
“Bullying is no longer being confined to the classroom or the schoolyard. It has spread to a whole range of digital devices across the Internet to cell phones,” said City Council Speaker Christine Quinn in a statement. “And while advances in technology have led to new opportunities for our children, it has also led to new threats for their safety and well-being.”
