On Tuesday evening, May 22, several dozen people gathered on Pier 16 to mark exactly 40 years to the day when the South Street Seaport Museum was founded. Peter Stanford, above, the museum’s founder, said “I feel that South St. can be, and I know it’s going to be, a generating force” in the ongoing development of Downtown and the city. Developer Frank Sciame, the museum’s chairperson, Kent Barwick, president of the Municipal Art Society, and Robert Ferraro, founding Volunteer of Friends of South Street, also attended.
