Thurs., March 20 – Wed., March 26

ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING IS IN EFFECT ALL WEEK

All Manhattan-bound lanes of the Brooklyn Bridge will close 11 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday, coinciding with the closure of one inbound lane in the Holland Tunnel. Further north, the New York-bound south tube of the Lincoln Tunnel will close 11 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

This closure trifecta means that Lower Manhattanites coming home in the late night will either detour to the Manhattan or Williamsburg bridges headed west, or face a slowdown in the Holland Tunnel and on Canal St. headed east.

On West St./Route 9A, one lane will close in each direction between West Thames and Vesey Sts. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Additionally, two northbound lanes will close between West Thames and Barclay Sts. 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Two southbound lanes will close between the same streets midnight Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The Stone Street Pedestrian Mall is back in effect on Stone St. between Hanover Square and Broad St., and on Mill Lane between Stone and South William Sts. The streets will close 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily through November.

Rector St. will close between Greenwich and Hudson Sts. 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Franklin St. will close between Greenwich and Washington Sts. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Pearl St. will close between Moore and Broad Sts. 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Fulton St. will close between Broadway and Nassau St. 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

From the mailbag:

 Dear Transit Sam,

1. Can I get a replacement registration sticker for my windshield from the D.M.V.?

2. Can the registration sticker be placed above the inspection sticker or must it be placed to the right of the inspection sticker?

Stan, New York

 Dear Stan,

For your first question, yes, visit this page of  the D.M.V. site  for instructions on how to replace your windshield sticker. You must place the registration sticker to the right of the inspection sticker, according to Title 15, Section 17.4 (d) of the Codes, Rules, and Regulations of New York.  Plenty of my readers have received tickets for “misplaced registration sticker.”
