Firefighters and police officers worked to safely remove an emotionally disturbed, shirtless man who climbed to the top of an 8-story Brooklyn apartment building on Monday afternoon.
According to police, firefighters arrived at the Pink Houses, 1167 Stanley Ave., in East New York at about 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 6 and were surprised to find the man on the rooftop, pacing back and forth.
Police from PSA 2 arrived and called for Emergency Service officers, who brought in an airbag in the event that the man tried to jump.
Cops reported that their attempts to talk to the man, said to be in his 30s’s, was met with “jibberish” so officers chose to patiently wait him out in the chilly temperatures. But after about an hour, the man told police he was ready to come down and surrendered.
The man was taken to Brookdale University Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation. No injuries were reported.
