The New York Jets wanted to add speed to their receiving core and have finally done so in a major way.

Gang Green agreed to a one-year deal with former Chiefs’ wide receiver Mecole Hardman worth up to $6.5 million according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Hardman is considered one of the fastest receivers in football. A former second-round pick out of  Georgia, Hardman totaled 150 catches and over 2,000 yards in four seasons with Kansas City. He was a part of the Chiefs’ two Super Bowl wins in 2019 and 2022 this past year. His best career game arguably came against the vaunted 49ers defense last season when the speed demon totaled three touchdowns in a 44-23 win for Kansas City.

Under a new offensive system, with a new quarterback expected to be coming shortly, the Jets could use Hardman in a variety of ways. Hardman has also been a threat on jet sweeps with the former Chief totaling over six yards a carry and two touchdowns over his tenure.

He pairs with reigning offensive rookie of the year, Garrett Wilson, and other receivers like Allen Lazard and Elijah Moore. With Aaron Rodgers expected to come into the fold, the Jets offense will have a lot more speed and weaponry than they have had in recent years.
