Police have arrested three teens involved in a Times Square brawl with police on Friday night, Mayor Eric Adams informed amNewYork on Sunday.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, the incident occurred on West 42nd Street and 8th Avenue at around 7:45 p.m. on May 2.
Sources report cops from the Midtown South Precinct responded to a large-scale altercation. While some dispersed when cops arrived, a group of about nine people set upon the officers, throwing items such as metal objects and water bottles at them.
One officer suffered a minor injury.
During an unrelated event in the Bronx on Sunday, Mayor Adams told amNewYork that his office and the NYPD were looking to take action.
“We’re still investigating to find out exactly what happened, but I can assure you that everyone that is responsible will be brought to justice,” Hizzoner said. “We’re not going to allow people to attack the symbol of our public safety, and those are the men and women who wear the uniform. This is being investigated now.”
Mayor Adams also revealed that the case is already swiftly progressing with police having arrested three teens they believe are responsible. As many as six others may have been involved, he noted.

“We’re not going to rest with just three arrests, and just show you how quickly we responded. We want all nine involved and brought to justice,” Adams added. “And I just want to really commend our detectives and our investigators and the men and women who are on the front line doing their job every day having to deal with an assault such as this.”
Police sources report that cops made the arrests on Saturday, cuffing a 16-year-old boy for riot, menacing, and obstructing governmental administration.
They also arrested a 17-year-old for assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, riot, and criminal possessive weapon.
Sources also reported that another young teen was taken into custody and later released into the custody of their parents.
