Britney Spears says she almost drowned during a recent vacation.

“I went to Hawaii a couple of weeks ago and it was beautiful,” the pop star, 34, told England’s BBC Radio 1 on Wednesday. “The waves were, like, six feet tall. I completely embarrassed myself. I went out and I thought it was like a wave pool . . . . But the thing I didn’t think about is when you come back, the waves really come in hard. And I got sucked under for, like, five minutes,” she said. “Literally almost drowned.”

Spears said the thought went through her head, “Where is my security? They’re just going to let me die here?” She then surfaced and “came in again and another wave took me under there. I kind of made a fool of myself. But,” she added, “it was fun to say the least. I got the experience.”

When radio-show host Scott Mills asked if her security ever arrived, Spears, who is promoting her upcoming album “Glory,” replied with a chuckle, “No, they didn’t . . . They just kind of left me there! I think they knew that I could probably survive my way through it.”

The singer is scheduled to appear late-night Thursday on the “Carpool Karaoke” segment of CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and will perform at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards at Madison Square Garden.
