Man dies of injuries after box truck driver strikes him in Queens: NYPD

A man died of his injuries on Monday morning after he hit by a box truck in Queens.

Authorities say that at around 6 a.m. on May 18, police responded to a call regarding a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at 124-50 Metropolitan Ave. in Kew Gardens. Upon their arrival, police learned that 49-year-old Florentino Cruseno Morales was struck by a box truck while trying to cross the street at the location.

Further investigation found that Morales was standing between two rental truck used for delivery purposes, in the capacity of attempting to transfer items from one truck to another. While doing so, one of the trucks backed up towards the rear of the second truck and hit Morales, who was still between the two vehicles. Morales was pinned between both trucks and sustained severe body trauma.

EMS rushed Morales to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The drivers of the box trucks remained at the scene. No arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
