Bloomberg feels optimistic about de Blasio’s administration

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he is optimistic about Bill de Blasio’s future at City Hall, because his successor is inheriting a solid foundation to build on.

The mayor discussed his thoughts on de Blasio’s victory Wednesday on CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” saying he doesn’t believe critics who think the city will be less safe under the Democrat’s watch.

Bloomberg said he took over the reins of a city that had progressed under his predecessor, Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and predicted de Blasio will do the same.

“We built a lot. We have given him a lot to work with,” the mayor said.

De Blasio consistently criticized Bloomberg for creating a “tale of two cities” during his campaign and bashed him for the NYPD’s stop-and-frisk tactic.

Bloomberg, however, reassured that he has no bad blood when it comes to the next mayor. “I have a big vested interest in making Bill de Blasio an even better mayor than I was,” he said.
