News Celebrities tweet Cecil the Lion tributes By BRITTANY HAMLETT-CONCEPCION Updated July 30, 2015 1:59 PM Print Share fbShare Tweet Email Since the death of Cecil the Lion, animal enthusiasts and celebrities alike have been tweeting their tributes for the beloved animal from Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park. Earlier this month the game-hunting dentist, Dr. Walter J. Palmer, shot and killed 13-year-old Cecil during a $50,000 guided excursion in Zimbabwe. The lion's death has outraged animal activists, and of course, celebrities are weighing in. Late night host Jimmy Kimmel broke down in tears and blasted the dentist on his show saying,"Is it that difficult for you to get an erection that you need to kill things?" Kimmel and other celebrities are encouraging people to donate to the Wildlife Research Conservation Unit to help end animal cruelty. Animals have souls and feelings just like us! I find hurting an animal or killing it for no reason a coward act and a major crime. Cecil the lion was another victim of animal cruelty, and, I am so ashamed of people who commit such disgraceful acts. Let us try to end this evil game and help WildCRU with the conservation of lions www.wildcru.org Thank you very much for your support. To reconsider our ways, to start viewing all of our Earths beings as precious life, to not allow the sadistic and egotistical act of "Game Hunting" animals for fun and sport to be the reason it continues. We as humans and the ones with the power to do something need to start protecting these animals from ourselves. To live and let live and start viewing all LIFE as precious, because it is. The notion of thinking that one life is worth less than another is the root of all the worlds problems. We need to as a global community start practicing love and kindness to all. We are all connected ? ##universalawarenesss ##kindnesss Vegan Kat Von D doesn't empathize with meat-eaters who mourn Cecil's death It's hard for me to empathize with those of you who are upset about the recent killing of an innocent lion, yet choose to eat animals. The only difference between Cecil the lion, and all the animals killed for meat: NONE. The only difference between Dr. Walter Palmer, and those who consciously choose to eat meat: NONE. Regardless of all the lies our country's FDA, medical industry, and media force upon us - it is our responsibility to seek out the truth for ourselves, and make life changes individually. Don't tell me "I can't live without my steak." Don't tell me "It's hard because of [insert excuse here]." Don't tell me "It's good for your health" when Science has proven the opposite. Don't lie to yourself that there is a "humane" way of killing a living being.
