Dear ThriveNYC Reader,

earlythrive-2010-06-08_z

With this issue, ThriveNYC enters its fifth year of publication. A wild ride? Not really. But always interesting, from the first issue.

The first cover subject was cartoonist, playwright and author Jules Feiffer as interviewed by our own esteemed managing editor and noted author Jerry Tallmer. Jerry and Jules took readers on a ramble through this gifted artist’s New York City from growing up in the Bronx to lighting up Broadway.

Today, ThriveNYC still well….thrives on great New Yorkers and their stories. In this issue, we reminence with restauranteur Jean Denoyer, the man who brought the city its first taste of French “soul” food.

One of the remarkable things about Big Apple seniors is their joy of life and learning. So what better way to spend hot summer days than in a cool classroom, learning a new subject or skill? We bring readers a compendium of classes both available downtown and online.

Investing wisely is a major concern for many older New Yorkers these days so we sought out the expert help of Financial Analyst Ed Glenn who frequently contributes to ThriveNYC to see if consolidating retirement plans is the right thing to do. And, we bring you Ask Marci, a column to answer your Medicare questions.

Have a great summer and we’ll see you in September!
