Hotline to catch construction frauds Downtown

Redevelopment officials launched a fraud prevention hotline for construction related projects in Lower Manhattan.

The hotline, 877-FRAUDLESS, operates 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Calls made to 311, the city’s non-emergency hotline, to report calls, will be forwarded to the new hotline as well.

“The Fraud Prevention Hotline is a critical component toward ensuring the success of construction activities in Lower Manhattan,” Charles Maikish, executive director of the Lower Manhattan Construction Command Center, which created the hotline, said in a statement. “Illegal and inappropriate activities on construction projects could seriously impact schedules and costs.”

Although L.M.C.C.C. partnered with the city’s Department of Information Technology to develop the program, SafirRosetti, L.L.C. and their subcontractor, National Hotline Services, will serve as the Hotline Service Provider.

The command center launched the program to respond to concerns about theft, safety hazards, security breaches, bribes or kickbacks, alcohol or drug abuse, prevailing wage violations, and other illegal or unethical activities.
