Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a man in the Meatpacking District last month.
According to the NYPD, at 3:23 a.m. on Sept. 16 a 59-year-old man was walking eastbound on West 14th Street near 9th Avenue when he was approached from behind by an unknown man. The suspect demanded the victim’s cellphone and then proceeded to punch the victim in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground.
The suspect then grabbed the victim’s iPhone 13 from his pants and fled the scene on foot westbound on West 14 Street toward Washington Street. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result but refused medical attention at the scene.
The NYPD released photos of the suspect, who is described as a man in his 20s with a dark complexion, a slim build and black hair, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red baseball hat, a red t-shirt, ripped-up blue jeans and red sneakers.
