Downtown locals said hello to two new community liaisons Tuesday night at the Community Board 1 full board meeting.
At the Manhattan borough president’s office, Gregory Brender will replace Mary Cooley as Scott Stringer’s Lower Manhattan helper. Cooley left her post June 15 to become the chief of staff to Assemblymember Brian Kavanaugh, who represents much of Manhattan’s east side.
Meanwhile, Downtown Alliance liaison Deborah Morris bid farewell to the board Tuesday. She is leaving to attend graduate school. Her replacement, Gideon Friedman joined her at the podium to urge board members to attend the Alliance-sponsored River to River festival events this summer during the board’s annual August recess.
