NYC no longer rudest U.S. city, survey says

New Yorkers may be getting a little soft.

NYC has been surpassed by Miami as the rudest city in America, according to a Travel + Leisure magazine survey.

New York dropped two spots this year to No. 3, with Phoenix taking up the runner-up spot.

The rudest city results came from the publication’s America Favorite Places survey, which asks readers to rank large cities (over 100,000 residents) on multiple factors, including “how cordial (or not) the locals seem,” according to Travel + Leisure.

“Perhaps it was the milder winter that kept locals chipper,” the magazine suggests of NYC, “or the fact that tourists have just come to expect a certain demeanor as part of the authentic New York experience.”

Besides New York, other cities in the Northeast that made the rudeness rankings included Philadelphia at No. 5, Boston at No. 7, and Providence, R.I. at No. 13.
