Chelsea Community Church will celebrate its annual Blessing of the Animals service at St. Peter’s Church, 346 W. 29th St., at an 11:45 a.m. service on Sun. Oct. 9 with Edward A. Boks, executive director of Animal Care and Control of New York City, the guest speaker.
Individual blessings will be offered to pets. A portion of the offering collected at the service will be donated to Hurricane Katrina animal rescue efforts.
Boks, a retired minister of a nondenominational church in Phoenix, Ariz., was formerly director of Animal Care and Control in Phoenix before he became director two years ago of the organization in New York City, the designated municipal animal control agency.
