Bridge stunt

Police arrested a man who was climbing the cables on the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge at about 10:40 a.m. Tues. May 18 and charged him with criminal trespass and reckless endangerment. The suspect identified himself as Raymond Gros, 41, and said he was a skydiver and stuntman from France. Police said the suspect was not wearing a skydiving harness when arrested and his identity has not yet been verified.

Investigation of rape

Police said a woman, 25, reported that a cab driver whom she hailed at about 2:40 a.m. Sun. May 16 at 70th St. and Broadway took her to her destination at John St. and Broadway and followed her to her apartment where he raped her and fled. Police located the driver on Tuesday evening May 18, questioned him and then decided along with the District Attorney’s office not to prosecute at this time. The case is still under investigation.
