Robbery pattern
Police are looking for a man wanted in a string of robberies, accompanied by a woman, in the Fifth, Seventh and Ninth precincts in the East Village and Lower East Side between Dec. 26 and Jan. 5. In the first incident, at 5:45 a.m. Dec. 26, the suspect came up behind a woman, 46, in her building at 635 E. 12th St. at Avenue C and fled with her bag. On Jan. 3 at 11 p.m., the suspect tried to take the bag of a woman, 63, in her building at 308 Delancey St. but she screamed and he fled.
The following day at about 3 p.m., he came up behind a woman, 73, inside 709 F.D.R. Drive in the Lillian Wald Houses, and fled with her bag. On Jan. 5 at about 6:35 p.m., he approached a woman, 39, from behind in her building at 10 Catherine Slip in the Al Smith Houses, took her bag and fled.
The suspect was described as a black man, standing between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet, weighing about 190 pounds and wearing a black jacket and black hat. The woman with him was said to be black, in her 20s, wearing a blue jacket, lime green scarf and gloves and black boots. Bank bandit
Ronald Adams, 56, was arrested Mon., Jan. 25, for a series of eight bank robberies in the Village, Chelsea, the Upper East Side and Harlem between Jan. 4 and Jan. 21, when his fingerprints at one location matched prints on file, police said.
The suspect passed notes to tellers demanding, “Give me all your loose hundreds and fifties. I have a gun,†police said.
On Jan. 21 at 3:42 p.m., he got away with $800 from the Valley National bank branch at 111 Fourth Ave. at E. 13th St., police said. The same day at 10:05 a.m., he had taken $200 from the Apple branch 124 E. 125th St., police said.
On Jan. 20 at 10:20 a.m., he passed the demand note to a teller at the Bank of America branch at W. Fourth St. near Seventh Ave. South, but walked out without taking any money, police said. But 10 minutes later he walked into the Sovereign branch at W. 20th St. and Seventh Ave. and made off with $1,100, police said.
On Jan. 19 at 8:37 a.m. he took $824 from the HSBC branch on E. 86th St. and Third Ave., and at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 11, the suspect took $4,810 from the Citibank branch at 1 Park Ave. at 32nd St., police said. On Jan. 4 he stole $2,750 from the Capital One branch at 120 W. 23rd St. at 9:10 a.m.; but he apparently fled without taking anything five minutes earlier from a Citibank branch at 717 Sixth Ave. at 23rd St., police said.
Village stabbing
An Upper West Side man, 48, was arguing with his girlfriend’s son at Hudson and W. 12th Sts. near the Village Nursing Home shortly after 4 p.m. Fri., Jan. 29, when the discussion turned violent. The son stabbed the victim in the left leg and left him bleeding on the sidewalk, according to police, who later arrested Ivester Pascal, 25, and charged him with felony assault in connection with the incident.
Domestic cuts
Allison Rembert, 40, of Baruch Place near E. Houston St. in the Baruch Houses, was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon on Tues., Jan. 19, for slashing her former husband on the cheek and the arm with a kitchen knife around 12:25 a.m. in her apartment, police said. The victim required multiple stitches to close the wounds, according to reports.
Elizabeth Irwin theft
A burglar or burglars broke into a basement construction site at Elizabeth Irwin High School, 40 Charlton St., around 3:45 p.m. Fri., Jan. 15, forced open a gang box and stole tools valued at $583. The thief or thieves then went upstairs, where they stole two laptop computers, one from the first floor and another from the third floor, with a total value of $3,300, police said. The school was previously victimized Jan. 4, when burglars broke into offices on the building’s fourth floor and stole 20 laptops.
Bad positioning
Police arrested Dwayne Smith, 49, at 3 a.m. Fri., Jan. 29, and charged him with possession of stolen property when he tried to sell stolen global-positioning system devices to a plainclothes officer and a cab driver on Lafayette St. The devices were stolen from cars parked near Washington Square North, according to reports. Smith was also charged with possession of a weapon for carrying a gravity knife, police said.
Handbag theft
Craig Connelly, 17, of Staten Island, was arrested at 4:30 a.m. Thurs., Jan. 21, in the men’s room of Greenhouse, the club at 150 Varick St. at Spring St., where he was going through two handbags stolen from club patrons, police said. A restroom attendant who saw the suspect with the handbags alerted police, according to reports.
Bleecker mugging
An Inwood man, 22, told police that three men, one wielding a box cutter, stopped him on Bleecker St. near Eighth Ave. around 1:15 a.m. Sat., Jan. 30, and threatened to cut him if he didn’t give up his wallet. They made off with the wallet, a PalmPilot, credit cards and his driver’s license.
Gang attack
Police arrested Richard Porras, 18, and his sister, Jasmine Porras, 19, of 10 Rutgers St., and charged them with robbery and assault, with three unapprehended accomplices, on a young man in front of 500 Grand St. around 6 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 24. The gang forced the youth to empty his book bag and took him to a nearby schoolyard where they punched and kicked him, police said. Richard Porras was charged with taking the victim’s wallet, two cell phones and earphones.
