Some colorfully painted and, thankfully, nonfunctional and broken AK-47 rifles were mounted on walls on Wooster St. In the current climate of gun violence — so horrifically witnessed recently in Tucson — hopefully, this project’s intent was to defuse the deadly weapons’ destructiveness by transforming them into artwork, à la “swords into ploughshares.”
