Starting Saturday, Dec. 11, anyone visiting the Pier 40 lobby Downtown will find an array of new photographs, featuring the Hudson River Park, taken by budding artists in their teens.
Friends of the Hudson River Park, a non-profit organization that supports the development of the Hudson River Park, sponsors many educational programs, one of which is a photography workshop. The eight-week course, at a cost of $25, is conducted three times a year for middle and high school students interested in photography.
The program, which started a year ago, has just completed its fourth session. On Saturday, students will unveil their photographs at a reception from noon to 2 p.m. at the Pier 40 lobby near W. Houston St. Friends invites anyone who is interested in the park or in photography to attend the event, at which a light lunch will also be served.
“The theme is partly fashion oriented, but the Hudson River Park is the main venue for all the images,” said Joan Lai, who works at Friends.
Curtis Willocks of the Fashion Institute of Technology conducted the latest course.
The exhibit, which will decorate the north wall of the Pier 40 lobby, will continue till Jan. 31, 2005. The building is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
