ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING IS SUSPENDED WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, AND MONDAY AND TUESDAY

Happy Passover and Easter! Alternate side parking rules are suspended for the holidays through Friday and again next Monday and Tuesday. Also, public schools are on spring break until next Wednesday so parking is allowed next to those schools. Parochial and private schools may have different schedules so check carefully before parking.

There will be no J trains between Broad St. and Delancey St.–Essex St. 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday and Tuesday nights. Take the F, 4, or 6 trains instead.

All Manhattan-bound lanes of the Brooklyn Bridge will close overnight 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday, 12:01 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday, and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday and Tuesday.

A parade will close several curb lanes around City Hall Park on Park Row, Broadway, Cedar St., and Church St. 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. But, traffic will be calmer than usual for Good Friday so I’m not expecting a major impact.

Harrison St. will close between Greenwich and Hudson Sts. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

In the Battery Park Underpass, the south tube (from West St. to the F.D.R.) will completely close 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday to Friday, 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday, and 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday and Tuesday through late June.

If you’re heading up West St. into 12th Ave. you may find more than the usual traffic at 34th St. because the Auto Show at the Javits Center starts on Friday and continues through next week.  Pre- and post-show there will be lots of truck activity on 12th Ave.

From the mailbag:

Dear Transit Sam,

What are the regulations as to when the West St. entrance to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel is open at night?

Ester, Bay Ridge

Dear Ester,

The word from the M.T.A. – which owns the Hugh L. Carey (Brooklyn Battery) Tunnel – is that the West St. entrance closes overnight 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. The M.T.A. posts an electronic sign at the entrance to notify drivers.
