A woman was shot in the chest by a stray bullet in Harlem on Saturday afternoon, weeks after a beloved grandmother lost her life from a stray shot.
Police sources say the latest incident of a bullet striking an innocent bystander took place around 1:30 p.m. on May 3 on the bustling sunny street along West 131st Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd.
According to law enforcement sources, the victim, a 60-year-old woman, was grazed by a bullet that seemingly came out of nowhere as she walked through the area.
The New York Daily News reported on surveillance video obtained by the outlet showing the victim walking when she struck and hunched over seconds before a couple pushing a stroller walked in the same spot.
Officers from the 32nd Precinct responded to the incident. EMS transported the victim to Harlem Hospital, where she was treated for her wound and is expected to recover. So far, no arrests have been made in the case.

Saturday’s shooting occurred the day after another innocent bystander was laid to rest following an eerily similar shooting last month.
Excenia Mette was only one year older than this latest victim when she was killed on April 22 when a gunfight broke out between two men.
Mette, who was lovingly known in the community as Momma Zee, was checking on her grandchild on Lenox Avenue and West 113th Street when she was fatally struck in the head with a stray bullet.
Ricky Shelby, 23, of the Bronx later turned himself in to authorities after police alleged that he fired the fatal bullet while engaged in a firefight with Darious Smith, also 23.
