Police in the Bronx are investigating a double shooting on Saturday night that left a man dead and a woman seriously injured.

Authorities said the gun violence happened at about 8:33 p.m. on May 10 near 224 Willis Ave. in Mott Haven.

Officers from the 40th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call about a crime in progress, located the two victims: a 30-year-old man shot in the chest, and a 42-year-old woman who suffered a bullet wound to her leg.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown, police sources said Sunday. The victims were not known to each other, and at this point in the ongoing investigation, it’s unclear whether they were deliberately targeted.

EMS rushed both victims to Lincoln Hospital, where the man was later pronounced dead; police have not yet released his identity, pending family notification. The woman, meanwhile, was listed in stable condition.

So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said. Cops are looking for a male suspect who was seen fleeing in an unknown direction after the shots rang out.

Anyone with information regarding the double shooting can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). You can also submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X (formerly Twitter) @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.

Through May 4, the 40th Precinct reported five homicides year-to-date, one less than the total at the same point in 2024. The command, however, has seen a 63.4% increase in shootings this year, with 18 incidents year-to-date, up from 11 at the same point last year.
