Bronx man cuffed for violently assaulting woman during rape attempt (UPDATED)

Cops have picked up a suspect hours in a violent attempted rape in the Bronx hours after releasing disturbing video of the incident in an apartment building lobby.

Michael Rosa, 25, of Melrose Avenue in the Bronx was charged early on Sunday morning with attempted rape, strangulation, sexual abuse, forcible touching and assault.

Police said the incident happened at 8 a.m. on June 26 inside a building near Reservoir Oval West and East 210th Street, a few steps from Williamsbridge Oval Park.

According to law enforcement sources, Rosa allegedly followed the 27-year-old victim out of the apartment building and then grabbed her. 

The edited video footage shows the suspect pulling the woman inside the lobby, then briefly wrapping her in a headlock before throwing her to the ground.

Cops said Rosa allegedly punched the victim’s face repeatedly while attempting to take her clothing off. The victim screamed and managed to fight off the attacker, who ran out of the building toward Bainbridge Avenue.

Officers from the 52nd Precinct and EMS units responded to the incident. Paramedics brought the woman to a local hospital for treatment of multiple facial and arm bruises.
