Detectives are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a married couple in Staten Island on Wednesday night.

Officers from the 122nd Precinct discovered the couple dead while conducting a wellness check at their home on Ragazzi Lane in South Beach at about 9:26 p.m. on Feb. 3.

Upon entering the location, cops said, they found an unconscious 68-year-old woman lying face up on a bed within a bedroom. Police reported that she had visible trauma to her neck, leading the NYPD to classify her death as a homicide.

In a nearby closet, law enforcement sources said, cops located a 63-year-old man who had apparently hung himself. Police learned that he was the woman’s husband.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene by responding EMS units. Police have withheld their identities, pending family notification.

Their bodies were transported to the Medical Examiner’s office for autopsies to determine the exact causes of their deaths.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
