NewsElections Republican National Convention: Where to watch in NYC By Wendy Lu Special to amNewYork Updated July 17, 2016 4:41 PM Print Share fbShare Tweet Email Even if you’re not in Cleveland this week to attend the GOP Convention, there are plenty of great venues ideal for watch parties in New York City. This year’s convention, themed “Make America Great Again,” will be held July 18-21 and will host 2,472 delegates from around the nation. Here are our top picks for the best locations to watch Donald Trump officially accept the Republican nomination. Pacific Standard Photo Credit: Ryan Kahl This West Coast-themed bar has been a go-to for political junkies ever since the bar began screening election coverage in 2008. This year, Pacific Standard will be setting up two screens - with sound! - in the front and back rooms during the RNC so you'll hear everything. There's no cover charge, only a one-drink minimum. Happy hour will be extended for the entire night, with $1 off all drinks. Get there early: The bar is expected to hit capacity at least an hour and a half beforehand. Location: 82 4th Ave, Brooklyn Phone Number: (718) 858-1951 Rudy's Bar & Grill Photo Credit: <a href="http://bit.ly/29RjRyZ "target=blank>Jazz Guy via Flickr (CC BY-SA)</a> This casual dive bar is super affordable ($5 wine!) and has a nice selection of draft beers, along with hot dogs. It's also the chosen venue for the NYC chapter of Drinking Liberally, part of a national organization that hosts social events around progressive politics. Join Drinking Liberally for their viewing party or go with friends (or both). Rudy's is cash only, so you'll want to bring a lot of change if you're staying there all night. RSVP is recommended. Location: 122 E. 83rd St., Manhattan Phone Number: 212-288-8606 Charlies Bar & Kitchen Photo Credit: Charlies Bar & Kitchen Got a group of six or more?
