Not all have been in agreement about the renovation plans for Washington Square Park, what with the heated debate over plans for a new fence, raising the park’s sunken plaza and other proposed changes. But one thing everyone could most certainly concur on at the Taste of the Village benefit was that the food — like the beef taquitos and beans, below, from La Palapa Rockola — was mouthwateringly delicious. City Councilmember Alan Jay Gerson, was among the many epicurean park lovers who enjoyed the evening under the tent in Greenwich Village’s landmark park. Charlie Fabella, left in photo at top right, and Citarella pastry chef Bill Yoses served up gazpacho. At right, Melissa Robbins and her daughter Mia Rutkovsky, 5 months old, made the rounds of the tasty selections. Fifteen top restaurants participated at the event, which also featured raffles. The annual eat fest is a fundraiser for the park, and is organized by the Village Alliance, the business improvement district covering the Central Village area, including Eighth St. and part of St. Mark’s Pl.
