The Giants’ brain trust has been busy this week, first having dinner with Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba on Tuesday and now a planned meeting for Thursday night with Boston College receiver Zay Flowers.

The Giants are one of two meetings that Flowers will have ahead of his pro day on Friday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. General manager Joe Schoen has been aggressively trying to bolster the Giants receiver group for newly re-signed quarterback Daniel Jones and now it looks as though they could turn to the draft to make some more improvements in that area.

Flowers is only 5’9″ but he plays much bigger than his size suggests and he is a strong route runner. He has also been described as “electric after the catch and has elite change of direction ability,” according to amNewYork’s Eric Samulski

The Giants and Flowers have been linked in several mock drafts, including amNewYork’s, which has New York taking the slot receiver with the No. 25 overall pick when the NFL Draft takes place next month.

Flowers had 1,077 receiving yards on 78 receptions and 12 touchdowns last season for Boston College.

The meeting is taking place two days after Schoen and Brian Daboll met with Smith-Njigba in Ohio. During his pro day on Wednesday Smith-Njigba said playing in New York would be a dream come true.

“It was great. A great dinner, great conversation, great people and great coaches,” Smith-Njigba told reporters at Buckeyes’ pro day. “I feel like they’re on the come-up. You (saw) it last year: them making the playoffs and doing their thing. So I definitely loved meeting with them.”

Both receivers aren’t expected to be on the board still when the Giants do make their first pick in April’s draft.

The Giants have already made a number of additions to the receiver group, trading for tight end Darren Waller, signing Parris Campbell and re-signing Darius Slayton.

New York also reportedly signed Jamison Crowder to a one-year deal on Thursday, adding even more depth to the position.
