Village Care of New York’s Tulips & Pansies fashion benefit earlier this month raised $100,000 for the local nonprofit healthcare provider. The cash was raised through an online auction of designer merchandise, vacations and original artwork prior to the fashion event and will benefit Village Care of New York’s network of AIDS services. V.C.N.Y. is perhaps best known for the Village Nursing Home, but the fundraiser focused on increasing awareness of its AIDS services, such as its Rivington House residence on Forsyth St. Richie Rich and Traver Rains of Heatherette and Lydia Hearst co-chaired the May 15 runway event, and James Aguiar of Full Frontal Fashion hosted the show. The extravagant floral headdresses were created by renowned fashion and floral designers, such as Alvin Valley, Betsey Johnson and David Tutera.
