BROOKLYN — Things in Nets World could be better these days.

The Nets dropped their fourth consecutive game on Tuesday night and are dangerously close to falling into a play-in round spot with another date with the Cavaliers set for Thursday. And even on a night when the Nets’ managed to improve their rebounding,  it still wasn’t enough to get over the hump.

A big part of that stems from the Nets’ poor three-point shooting, which had been a point of emphasis since the team dealt away Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. During Brooklyn’s current four-game skid their three-point shooting percentage has sat at an abysmal 31.8%.

“We’re a team we have to shoot threes,” Vaughn said. “That’s where we’re comprised and we got to make them. It puts a premium effort on rebounding and turning people over if we don’t, but we’ve got to make shots.”

Notably, the Nets have taken fewer three-point shots in each of their last four games. The Nets attempted 41 threes in their first loss of the streak against the Oklahoma City Thunder and in Tuesday’s loss to the Cavaliers, they attempted to just 33.

Vaughn indicated that the fewer threes weren’t a product of the team’s poor shooting from beyond the arc.

“I think we want the looks. I think you gain confidence by making some of those looks,” Vaughn said. “We did get to some mid-range shots tonight that we’re at times good for certain individuals. We did attack the rim though so that balance of attacking the rim, making the defense collapse while also shooting threes. You know it’s the Holy Grail, but I think teams know we want to shoot threes also.”

Mikal Bridges added: “Just gotta keep shooting them. You know it’s part of life. You miss some, just gotta keep shooting them.”

The Nets only have a small window to try and right the ship as the regular season quickly winds down. Brooklyn will have another shot at the Cavaliers on Thursday before their critical showdown in Miami against the Heat on Saturday.

The rare two games against the same opponent have a bit of a playoff feel to them and the Nets need to take advantage of facing a team twice in such a short time span.

“I think the biggest thing is to show our guys we have done this before,” Vaughn said. “We have won on the road, we have won verse high-quality teams. We’ve won at home, we won back-to-back, all of the above. We’ve done it, we’ve seen it, so I think that’s the message for our group is just have a stretch right now where gotta make sure we pull things together, stay together.”
